Youth Adventure Cruise a huge success!
Kids aboard Ocean Planet!
What a great time last thursday. I was honored to have the chance to share Ocean Planet with a great group of young adventurers and sailors.
We made two fully-loaded trips from our base at Portland Yacht Services to the ocean, with our young friends from The Opportunity Farm (www.opportunityfarm.org). We also had some talented young sailors from a local youth sailing group, Sail Maine. You never know where the next olympic or ocean racing star will come from….maybe we had one aboard!
Special thanks to Capt’n Eli’s Root Beer for promoting the Youth Adventure Cruise! Here’s Scott and Brian from Shipyard Brewery preparing to pour cold Captn Eli’s Root Beer for the kids (they couldn’t drink it all themselves…)!
Also thanks to Portland Yacht Services for hosting the event, and to all of the sponsors who made it possible! Portland is a beautiful place to sail, and you can often find a gorgeous schooner to go blasting by….Sorry Phin!
Time is short to raise the funds we need to finish Ocean Planet for the Vendee, but it sure is great share her with such an enthusiastic crowd. I hope to do it again before we head for France!
Stay tuned!
